Instructions for Operation:American DJ's MYDMX has pre-programmed profiles for various lights, but not all fixtures come pre-programmed. Many of our StageApe lights are some of the fixtures that do not come pre-programmed in MYDMX, but MYDMX comes bundled with a program called Scanlibrary that allows you to create profiles. In order to access Scanlibrary you must locate where you installed your MYDMX software. MYDMX automatically installs itself on to Drive C or what ever you name your primary hard drive. You can gain access to Drive C by going to My Computer in your start menu. Once you have opened you're primary Drive you will find a folder called MYDMX, open it and you should see the Scanlibrary icon. |

| Before we start, you must find out how many
channels your
fixture has and what each channel does. For our StageApe fixtures, you
can get that information either through the instruction manual or
online at www.StageApeLighting.com. This information is vital in order
for you to create a profile for your light. We are going to use our
StageApe 114-wide64, which is a 7 channel light for this example.
Channel 1 - intensity of green, Channel 2 - intensity of red, Channel 3
- intensity blue, Channel 4 - preset color change, Channel 5 - controls
the speed of the color changing, Channel 6 - strobe, Channel 7 Dimmer
(must be on 100% for other functions to work). I find it easier to create a profile for my light when I have a template. In order to get a template for my light, I go in to my preprogrammed profiles in MYDMX and look for a light similar to the one that I am intending on programming. For example I'll look in to the American DJ profiles and look at their LED Par 64 and then I go a step further to look for the manual on their website in order to see what each channel does. Once I have an idea of how I want my profile to be I choose the same effects as applicable to my light and program my light correspondingly. Open the Scanlibrary program and now we can begin to create a profile for your fixture. Once you get in the program, the screen will show number of channels, pan angle, beam angle, library type, and tilt angle. The important ones to pay attention to are the number of channels, and the library type. |

| For our example we are using our 114-wide64
which is a PAR 64 can
with 7 channels. So you would click on the number of channels icon and
change the channels to 7. You would then click on the library type
icon. Once you click it will show you various types of moving heads.
What you want to do is click on the picture of the moving head on the
left side. Another menu will show up with an icon of a head, scan,
other, colored objects, and object. For our example to create a par
can, click on the other icon. You will see the selection for a par 64
can, select it. Now enter the dimensions of your par can, the
dimensions that I got off the website of our 114-wide64 is 11"X10"x9".
You will need to convert the dimensions from inches to centimeters. So
I would enter 28cmX25cmX23cm. Press ok when you are done. A screen will
appear saying that you are confirming that the fixture does not have
pan or tilt channels, click yes. Now you can change the beam angle, this is not all that important unless you are looking to do the 3D visualization. I used a 45 degree beam angle for my fixture, this is just an estimate since I do not know the true value. You are now done with selecting the type of fixture which is the top portion. Now we are going to focus on the programming of the fixture which is the bottom portion of the page. |

| We will start with channel 1, channel 1 for
the 114-wide64
controls the intensity of green. Click on the question mark and a drop
down menu with various functions will appear. You will want to select
the green function for channel 1. Channel 2 of our light controls the intensity of red. Do the same for the step above and select red. Channel 3 of our light controls the intensity of blue. Do the same step as above and select blue. Channel 4 of our light controls the preset color change. Make sure the box has a question mark on it, which signifies a free channel. This channel will require a bit of programming. What you will do is select the new icon on the right side of the channel 4 section. A screen will pop up with a few different drop down menus. Select the first drop down menu and select color icon. Select the next drop down menu and select color. Proceed to the next drop down menu and select color cmacro1. Select the first dmx level and leave it at 0. Go to the last dmx channel level and put it on 255. Now make sure that none of the boxes on the bottom left hand side are checked (minus the default preset). Select the name and change it to color change. Channel 5 of our light controls the speed of the color change. You will need to follow the same directions as above. After selecting the color icon select the cmacro2 setting, make sure to click off of the box that says choose icon for me. Go to the name of preset and name it Speed of Color Change. Then continue to follow the directions as above. Once you are done click ok. Select the name and change it to Speed change. Channel 6 of our light controls strobe. Follow the same directions as above, but instead use the shutter strobe icon in the first menu, select shutter in the next menu, in the next menu select strobe, and make sure to check the choose icon and choose name for me. Complete the fixture by starting it in channel 0 and ending it channel 255. Click ok and you are done. Make sure to name it strobe once you are out of the previous section. Channel 7 of our light controls the dimming functions. Click on the question mark and select the dimmer icon. |

| Now you will have to save. When I save it
says that I have to do a
particular value for my shutter for it to work accurately in the 3D
visualization, but I like the settings that I have, (much easier to
understand the way I have it), so I just ignore it. Now I save the
profile and name it 114-wide64 and create a new folder called StageApe
to save it under. You can now close out the program and open the MYDMX program. Click on the setup icon and go through the scan library to find the stageape folder. Click on it and you should be able to find your light. Now tell it which channel to patch into and the amount of the same light you are intending on using and you are set to go. If you are having problems locating the light make sure to restart mydmx and locate where you saved the light profile. Make sure that your program is out of demo mode, this will be seen in the bottom left hand screen once you open mydmx. To fix it exit the program and disconnect the dongle at the usb and reconnect it. Repeat this step in order to get in usb mode. |
